Regulation

Environmental projects such as aquaculture installations require input from government, business and communities. Through a series of REGULATIONS, government sets the parameters of what is permissible in specific regions. Setting regulations requires the involvement of multiple entities most especially the impacted communities.

While robust regulations are the first step to ensure the environmental health and safety of a project, equally robust oversight and tracking are necessary to guarantee that regulations are being followed. With finfish farming, there are many examples of countries that have set strong regulations but enforcement may be lax therefore allowing problematic practices to continue.
